Users require the valve if the pressure hose ends lower than the water level in the condensate tray of the air conditioning unit. The water column in the downpipe breaks off and a vacuum is created in the pressure pipe. As a result, the entire pressure line, suction line and condensate tray of the air conditioning unit are sucked dry. In principle, the siphon effect is not a problem, but the fact that the suction line also runs empty means that the condensate pumps start to run dry after each siphon effect. This dry running is the real problem, as mini condensate pumps can only run dry to a very limited extent. By installing the valve in the discharge line directly behind the pump, the discharge line is aerated, i.e. the negative pressure created by the lifting effect is balanced out and the suction line of the mini pumps remains filled with water. This means that the pumps no longer have to start up dry.
